Aboriginal Investment NT is responsible for making grants and investments and providing financial assistance and other supports to promote the self-management, economic self-sufficiency and social and cultural wellbeing of Aboriginal people living in the Northern Territory.

- answer your queries on Aboriginal Investment NT’s grant processes
- provide information about Aboriginal Investment NT’s operations

The personal information we collect from you could include your:

- other relevant information about your skills, experience and relationships that might support your grant application.
In performing our functions, we may also collect sensitive information about you. This could include information about your racial or ethnic origin, such as evidence or confirmation of an Aboriginality certificate. We will only collect sensitive information if you provide your consent at the time we collect the information from you, or an exception under the Privacy Act applies.
If we do not collect this personal information from you, we may not be able to assess the suitability of your application, which may prevent us from being able to award you grant funding.
How we use and disclose your personal information
Assessment of applications and granting funds
We will use and disclose your personal information to assess your application and administer Aboriginal Investment NT’s grants programs.
We will not use or disclose your personal information for any other purpose without your consent, unless authorised or required by law, or where permitted under the Privacy Act 1988.
Where appropriate, we may disclose your personal information to third parties to:
- Complete verification checks in relation to your application
- Facilitate or streamline an application for funding and supports from another government entity
- Prevent fraud, corruption and other illegal activities, or duplication of funding relating to the project that is the subject of your application
- Confirm that an applicant has sought funding or supports from another government entity or third party to contribute to other parts of the project that is the subject of your application
- Identify a previous debt or underspend or outstanding acquittal of any funding received from a Commonwealth or State or Territory body or organisation
- Manage our relationship with you, including investigating and responding to complaints and handling any disputes with you;
- Recover debts relating to Aboriginal Investment NT grant funding provided to you;
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of an Aboriginal Investment NT-funded project, and
- Assist another government entity in understanding demand for business support services.
Publication of information on the Aboriginal Investment NT website
As part of your application, we will seek consent to publish details of any grant to your organisation. Unless inappropriate to do so, we will publish on our website information about your organisation, the funds it has received and the reason for the grant (Grant Details). Unless you are applying for the grant in a personal capacity, we will not publish the names of any people at your organisation.
We publish Grant Details for transparency and accountability purposes. These details may be accessed by individuals located overseas who may not be subject to the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles.
If you do not consent to the publication of your information, other applicants may be preferred over your application for funding. This may mean that we are unable to fund your proposed project.
